Let's Dance
The Swing Big Band (At Last)

THE BIG SWING BAND is the classic  line up. Four Trumpets, Four Trombones, Five Saxs, Piano, Bass, Drums and Guitar. Add to that the talents of Steve Walker - trumpeter, vocalist, musical director and compere, and you have a night to remember always. You will hear the best arrangements of the best music of the big band era highlighted by great solos featuring individual musicians. You will be entertained by songs you know and love. This is a Band which will excite you, entertain you and make it a truly memorable experience.

The Band has not one female vocalist but two - Sara Blair Manning and Christine Scott - to knock your socks off with their versatile style, sparkling personalities and spectacular gowns! These Sweethearts of Swing continue to add the glamour with their fabulous Andrews Sisters routine as well as numbers after the style of Etta James, Peggy Lee, Marilyn Monroe, Ella Fitzgerald, Vera Lynn to name but a few.

The Band plays for  concerts, theatre shows, dances  and all manner public and private events. Plus their own special Dance or Listen Night - an entertaining music show for you to watch or get up and dance to.

The Big Swing Band was founded in 2003 by the late Keith Baldwin, international jazz trumpet player and band leader, and his wife, Paula Baldwin. When Keith died in 2004, Paula took the reins for the next ten years establishing the Band's reputation for first class entertainment.

In July 2014, Paula hung up her sequins and handed over the Band to topline professional trumpeter Steve Walker. When you read Steve's CV elsewhere on this website, you will understand why the Band has such an exciting future ahead of them.

After four years under the leadership of Major (retd) Paul Murrell, a former Musical Director with the British Army, the Band is ready for further challenges lined up for them by Steve (Paul is still with the Band as Leader of the Reeds Section and will take your breath away with his alto sax and clarinet solos)

Churning out the same old stuff is not an option for this band. The musicians are constantly  striving to better their performances and enjoying themselves along the way. And every performance includes new numbers as well as the eternal favourites.

In June 2012, the Band made their first CD which was released on October 21st and is available to purchase in the Web Store on this website.

.The Band operates throughout Lincolnshire but may be tempted to travel further afield
